The City Council meeting at Arlington City Hall on Monday evening was memorable as it was the venue for honoring the 2023 XFL-champion Arlington Renegades.
The team and their Vice President of Business and Event Operations, Charles Johnson, were present to receive a special proclamation from Mayor Jim Ross. The proclamation declared August 1, 2023, as “Arlington Renegades Day,” recognizing the team’s remarkable achievements during the 2023 XFL season.
The ceremony commenced with Mayor Ross taking to the podium to read out the proclamation, which highlighted the outstanding accomplishments of the Arlington Renegades in the XFL’s 2023 season. The team’s relentless dedication, exceptional teamwork, and extraordinary performance on the field culminated in triumph over the D.C. Defenders in the XFL Championship Game. The Renegades secured a thrilling victory with a score of 35-26, held on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at The Alamodome in San Antonio.
The City of Arlington played a pivotal role in the XFL’s 2023 season, hosting all eight of the league’s teams at the renowned Choctaw Stadium. The stadium served as the Hub of the XFL, with all teams residing and training in the DFW area throughout the season.
