After allowing an early goal, FC Dallas was able to capitalize with an equalizer in the second half to tie with the San Jose Earthquakes 1-1 Saturday night.
San Jose got off to a fast start in the match as in the third minute they scored a goal off the foot of Jeremy Ebobisse to give them an early 1-0 lead.
The Earthquakes came out aggressive the first 45 minutes of the game as they had five other attempted shots on FC Dallas miss or get blocked. FC Dallas’ defense was able to hold strong to only be down 1-0 at halftime.
Jader Obrian and Jesus Ferriera thought synced offensively early in the second half to change the outlook of the game. Ferriera was able to deliver a nice through ball to Obrian on an attack. It ended with Obrian hitting the ball in the back of the net to even the game at 1-1 in the 57th minute.
FC Dallas was the more aggressive offense in the second half with at least six shot attempts either missed or blocked. San Jose was only able to have one in the half.
Neither team was able to find the game-winning shot as it ended in a 1-1 draw giving each team a one point result in the standings.
FC Dallas finished the game leading in shots (ten) and shots on goal (five). They also had three corner kicks and two saves in the tie.
FC Dallas’ Current Playoff Status
FC Dallas has been on an impressive run of late as they have not lost a game since August 30. They currently have gotten results in seven straight matches winning only one.
The draw gave them 42 points in the standings this season as FC Dallas holds in ninth place in the Western Conference. San Jose was able to maintain eighth place in the Western Conference with the result. Should the playoffs start together, FC Dallas and San Jose would play each other again in a Wild Card game.
There are two games remaining on FC Dallas’ schedule as they will play games on the next two Saturdays against Colorado Rapids and LA Galaxy. Both teams are at the bottom of the Western Conference.
One advantage for FC Dallas over most teams is that they have two games remaining when most have just one more. That should give FC Dallas a leg up on the playoff push as two wins could get them into the top seven. They must collect results though to stay alive for the playoffs as losses could cost them.
