After a 4-1 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Dallas Stars rebound with a 5-3 home win over the Columbus Blue Jackets Monday night.
It was a tightly contested battle through two periods with the Stars starting the scoring with a Thomas Harley goal 27 seconds into the first period. Columbus responded with two goals the rest of the period to hold a 2-1 lead after the first period.
Dallas would go on a long offensive run that began with Roope Hintz scoring his third goal of the season to tie it up at 2-2 at the end of the second period. The Stars controlled the third period with three more goals holding on for a 5-3 win over Columbus.
There were plenty of star players in the game including their young rising star Wyatt Johnston who scored his third goal of the season in the third period and got an assist in the game. Center Matt Duchene got one star in the game after scoring his first goal of the season helping give Dallas a 3-2 lead in the third period. While Jason Robertson didn’t score a goal in the game, he did net two assists in the win.
Jake Oettinger got the start at goalie for Dallas making 22 saves in the game. Oettinger got two Power Play saves as well as he finished with saving 88 percent of the shots in the game.
The Stars pick up their fifth win of the season putting their record at 5-1-1 on the season. With their 11 points in the standings, they are just one point behind the Colorado Avalanche in the Central Division of the Western Conference. They travel to Canada on Wednesday as they have a matchup against the 2-6-1 Calgary Flames.
