A lack of offense doomed FC Dallas as their season came to an end with a 1-0 loss to the Seattle Sounders Friday night.
Seattle had full control of the game from the start as they were handling the ball well not giving FC Dallas many opportunities offensively. The Sounders would score the only goal of the game in the 36th minute with Albert Rusnák scoring the goal making it 1-0.
FC Dallas’ defense throughout was solid as Maarten Paes made three saves in the contest. Seattle was able to only get one goal on 16 shots taken in the game. The defenders for FC Dallas stepped up in the second half giving their team a chance to equalize.
Ultimately, it was the FC Dallas offense that just couldn’t get anything going which has been the story of the season for them. Nkosi Tafari was the only player on FC Dallas who attempted a shot and it was on goal. The team finished with one shot taken in the game.
The end result of the game was a 1-0 loss for FC Dallas. Seattle’s win helped them advance in the MLS Playoffs. As for FC Dallas, the loss knocks them out of the playoffs.
Even though the season ended, there is plenty to be proud of for the FC Dallas squad. This is the fourth time in five years that the team has qualified in the playoffs. They have been consistent in making the playoffs and being competitive.
The one thing the team will have to focus on this off-season is to bring in more fire power offensive. Jesus Ferreira can’t be leaned on to carry the offense every season. Finding another scorer or two will help the roster.
Fans will reflect on this season with a sour taste in their mouths about how it ended, but the team has a bright future with good talent coming back for 2024.
