The A-Train Rant 15.0!!!

Time for another edition of the A-Train Rant…now at 15.0!!

PRE-RANT: First off, Happy Birthday to game show host Bob Barker. Today he turned 90 years of age…90! The reason I rant about him is because if you watched today’s episode of “The Price Is Right” they were celebrating his 90th birthday. One of the trips in the show was a trip to St. Louis. Yes, that’s right…St. Louis. I found it funny. I wondered if the producers did their research on St. Louis. They did. They kept it in downtown mostly. The prize included a stay at the Four Seasons Hotel and 2 tickets to a Cardinals game next season. Why? All because Bob had a dream years ago (before being host of the world’s greatest game show) of pitching for the Redbirds. Well it didn’t happen. Whitey Herzog made sure of that. Glad that he’s a huge Redbirds fan though.

Now…to the real rants.

  1. Injuries have truly impacted sports for years…especially when your favorite player goes down and costs nearly a whole season to recover. I can’t remember where an impact injury on the team would later in the season win the whole thing. But then again, the biggest debate has been the safety of sports…is it needed or is it not? Sorry, I can’t answer that. I’m 50-50. With that…the next few rants will pertain to players that have impacted a particular team in some way. NOTE: Scratch that, the St. Louis Rams did it in 1999 when Trent Green went down. Who knows if he was a superstar though?
  2. Kobe and Jim Brown both need to chill. Their “war of words” were both not needed. Kobe needs to focus on how he can get Mike D’Antoni out of L.A.
  3. RGIII being benched is a risky move on Shanahan. I like the move though. I know the game is about money and sacking a franchise player is not the way to go. But he is not getting the job done (given that it’s just his 2nd year) then he has to sit down. Kirk Cousins is a good QB, it was shown in the game where RGIII was down…which proves that he should NOT been the NFL Rookie Of The Year…AT ALL.
  4. Stephen Curry is a beast.
  5. The Knicks beating up my Bulls was great for them…what else do they have going good for them these days? They need a point guard in the meantime.
  6. LeBron is hilarious saying that the Pacers are not a rival…yeah they haven’t beaten you in a 7-game series yet but they continue to bring the best out of you…just remember if the Pacers play the Heat…watch who does the crying during that series and get away with stuff too.
  7. I guess Josh McCown gets no love from Marc Trestman…despite their 2-2 record since Jay Cutler has been out, McCown has averaged 300+ yards per start with 10 TDs and yet you feel that Cutler is the man right now. #CrybabyStatusAlert
  8. This Nick Saban drama is giving me a headache. I hate it when big-time coaches have to be so damn secretive about their next move. Then get all kind of representatives from nowhere to say whether he is staying or going. For all we know, his ass could be lying too. Just have got to love media nowadays.
  9. The baseball winter meetings are getting real. Fights breaking out in parking lots. Stupid funny.
  10. Matt Elam will learn who Megatron really is. You don’t make comments about a superstar if you can’t back it up. Elam’s stat: 2 passes deflected, 0 interceptions…GOOD LUCK SIR! I actually agreed with Skip Bayless on this one.

That’s all I have for today. More to come. Actual blog coming up.

The A-Train Rant 10.0!!!

296958_1545752100335_1731016917_773274_1225805634_n1.jpg

Just before Thanksgiving, I want to give one big sports rant and say what I’m thinking on this blog before you enjoy your turkey and stuffing.

Ladies and gentlemen,

THE A-TRAIN RANT 10.0!

  1. Jameis Winston should be the Heisman Trophy winner regardless of the outcome on if he’s charged with sexual assault. A.J. McCarron is good  The Heisman Trophy award is for accomplishments done ON THE FIELD, not off of it. Now, I can see a person saying something like…”Well, what about Pete Rose?” Pete Rose STILL SHOULD NOT be in the Hall Of Fame. Why? Because the dirt he did was in baseball and during baseball. I hope this doesn’t become a race issue. I hope not.
  2. As much as I dislike Kobe Bryant, he put some truth on his social media followers about his “selfishness.” I hate to say it, but he’s the most loyal athlete. One team…17 seasons (although injured this season). He was right about the billions that the front office receives more than the players/athletes receive. Everybody wants a piece of the pie. Remember that. EVERYONE! He really is trying to be better than Jordan though, something about passing him in scoring is all he wants to do. He got the rings, MVPs, what else does he need to do?
  3. Chicago Bulls DO NOT NEED to tank for Jabari Parker or Andrew Wiggins…I wish people would stop saying that. Even if they did, the chances of them getting one of those guys are 1 in 4. Don’t believe me, look up the 2008 NBA Draft or check out the 1993 NBA Draft, and then read the 1985 NBA Draft when this whole lottery crap got started. Damn ping-pong balls. That’s why I hate David Stern. Come on February 1st (Stern’s last day as commissioner).
  4. LeBron James, as much as I dislike him too, should not go back to Cleveland. Anderson Varejao needs to shut his trap. What for? The fans dissed him, burned his jerseys and now they so desperate to win again, they want him back. If I’m LeBron, I’d tell ’em, “Kiss my ass. I love Miami.” Hypocrites.
  5. Alex Rodriguez is a jerk and I love it. The reason for that is because the good guy image (he’s been bad before this) in front of the camera is going south. From him going crazy in judicial hearings to him speaking out Mike Francesa’s radio show…where have you been crazy A-Rod? Let the madness continue. Trust me, it will. Definitely before 2014 spring training.
  6. After seeing some Monday Night Football and seeing Robert Griffin III get decimated by the 49ers…it’s still not a clear indicator that he should be the guy for the Redskins. Usually with 2nd year QBs, they get a 3rd year to indicate that. Same goes for Russell Wilson (even though he’s winning), Andrew Luck, and I’ll even be nice and say Brandon Weeden. The hell with that, Weeden stinks. Even on a good team, his best would be a backup role. Don’t like it, take it to the judge.
  7. Speaking of 1st-round QBs, Sam Bradford as a franchise QB has me wondering for the life of me…do the Rams really want to put their chips in him or find another potential franchise player but in a different round. I know it’s his 4th season and this was supposed to be THE YEAR for him. He got hurt against Carolina and ended all the dreams. Kellen Clemens is definitely NOT the answer but over the past couple of weeks has been solid enough to get quality wins. Still pissed about that Seattle game though, it was a clear game-changing moment wasted.
  8. The Missouri Tigers could be the greatest underdog to make the national championship. Yes, I understand they have a test this week in Texas A&M and a much bigger test in Alabama (if they make it to the SEC championship). We’ll see what happens come Saturday.
  9. I can’t see why Lee Smith and Jack Morris are NOT in the Hall of Fame. They were by far the most dominant at their positions in the 1980s and early ’90s (closer and starter, respectively). What is the problem here? Next year’s class will have Frank Thomas, Greg Maddux and Tom Glavine headlining the class for sure. Lee Smith had 478 saves in his career and Morris had 254 wins in his career. But guys like Bruce Sutter and Jim Palmer are in the Hall of Fame. Sutter had 300 saves but Palmer had more wins than Morris at 268. WHAT IS THE FIGURE TO MAKE THE HALL OF FAME? I don’t get it.
  10. Jason Kidd should have never been a head coach in the NBA.
  11. What the hell is a clean tackle in the NFL? I’ll leave it at that.

After all of this, my thoughts and prayers go out to the victims that were lost in the construction of the new stadium being built for the 2014 World Cup of soccer.

THE A-TRAIN RANT 7.0!!!

THIS A-TRAIN RANT IS SPONSORED BY…

THE ANGRY REDBIRD!

  1. Peyton Manning is the best QB of all-time…the hell with Brett Favre. After a comeback like that with a not so great team. He can damn near do anything.
  2. Matt Holliday, Jon Jay and Yadier Molina need to learn how to hit in the playoffs. A few instructional videos with Fred McGriff shouldn’t hurt. Don’t act like you don’t remember those.
  3. Jeff Fisher did a good thing on Sunday with Greg The Leg, trying for him to kick a (would have been record) 66-yard field goal. If he knows he can kick, what the hell else do you supposed to do on 4th down.
  4. Speaking of that Rams game, Sam Bradford needs to learn the 2-minute drill, and when to throw the football IMMEDIATELY. It costs the Rams a much needed road win.
  5. The Rams should be at least 5-1. YEAH, I SAID IT. Detroit and Miami should have been road wins. Unclear about that Chicago game but at least they should have been in the lead for those games. Tough breaks in those losses.
  6. Who in the hell is this Richard Sherman guy from Seattle? For a guy who hasn’t seen a postseason yet, he sure thinks he  has the right to go tell off to a Super Bowl-winning QB that he is better than him. Get a championship first, then talk trash. Learn something from Gary Payton, even if it means going to another team to get it.
  7. Speaking of RGIII…I think he is finally learning what the NFL is like. After a mild concussion last week…Dude, they are just getting started with you.
  8. Speaking of Washington D.C., the Washington Nationals front office do not want to win any championships. If that’s the case, they should all be fired. NEXT SEASON!!
  9. The San Francisco Giants are no punks, they got to the NLCS for a reason. This is about to be (hopefully) a great NLCS, funny though how 2 things surface from this matchup. 1) 25 years ago, these two teams played to a thrilling 7-game series with the Cardinals, with the Cardinals winning that before losing to the Minnesota Twins in the Fall Classic. 2) These 2 teams are the last 2 champions, interesting to see who gets there again.
  10. NBA season is around the corner, NHL season is down in the dumps. Last year, it was the other way around.
  11. I don’t feel sorry for the New York Yankees. I’m a long-time hater and I don’t care. Feel sorry for Derek Jeter though. Looks like (as a friend put it) BALCO East needs to break out the juice for another comeback.
  12. The New York Giants are the best team in the NFC, until someone knocks them off, no one else is better. PERIOD. Just ask the San Francisco 49ers.
  13. Back to the Rams…they scored more points the 49ers did. Take that San Fran!
  14. Philip Rivers and Tony Romo are the same people…Yet, I think both are trying to fire their offensive head coaches. Shame on you!
  15. I’ll miss Ray Lewis…that man is cursed. He got in that Madden game again and now he won’t even play the rest of the season. I hope it’s not the last one. If so, this is a bad way to go out. Very bad way.
  16. I got at least 1 win in fantasy football this week, and that I didn’t have a full team with that.

Coming up, a Q/A interview with author Allen Schatz and hopefully get one of the ladies from the Lingerie Football League’s St. Louis Saints.

Stay tuned.

THE A-TRAIN RANT 6.0!

What’s good! After a wild weekend of fun, excitement and atrociousness. I want to start this “END OF THE WEEKEND” rant with a little fun and excitement, yet reality. Then I’ll give a piece of my mind to a certain Cardinals player.

BOOM!

  1. The St. Louis Rams have a great defense, I applaud Jeff Fisher for his defensive scheme, 9 sacks said a lot against Arizona QB Kevin Kolb on Thursday night. Hope Mr. Kolb found his teeth after that game.
  2. Now while the Rams have shown promise to getting over .500 for the first time since ’06, they still haven’t won a road game yet. Convince me, then I’ll yell, “We going to the Super Bowl this season!” I should make a bet.
  3. To the Atlanta Braves fans (at Turner Field)…if you want to throw things on the field, throw them at your own damn team! Their defense was THE reason they lost that “one-game playoff.” Either way it went, that “infield-fly” rule wasn’t going to save the season.
  4. Speaking of the Braves, Chipper Jones played his final game as a MLB player. Funny thing was he knew the Braves were going to lose to that game…WEEKS BEFORE the playoff game. Damn fine way to go out on the bottom!
  5. This year’s baseball playoffs are PURE CRAPOLA! And I stand on that. Even if the Cardinals win it all again, this format to the playoffs is a piece of sh**.
  6. Bud Selig loves to ruin the game of baseball. That’s all from that.
  7. Cam Newton is starting to understand what a sophomore slump really is…at least I think so. Losing to the Seahawks shows you that..(CLEARS THROAT) THE NFC WEST IS THE BEST! Everybody else, just get over it.
  8. Looks like my prediction about Alabama beating the tar off Mizzou by at least 35 is really coming into play. I might watch just to see what happens. Mr. Pinkel, you have one more year left. **WAVES**
  9. Hey Green Bay Packer fans…the Rams are better than your team.
  10. RGIII…how does it feel to be knocked on your ass at home. I told you that you were going to get it. Welcome to the NFL.
  11. Long live Chuck Pagano!!!
  12. 3 teams in the SEC are in the Top 5…waiting on the hatred once again from fans outside of the S.E.C.
  13. If Miguel Cabrera doesn’t win the AL MVP in a landslide, all the voters should give up their voting rights…to the fans.
  14. After all of this, I have to talk about the St. Louis Cardinals. **Sighs** First off, congrats for getting to the Division Series.
  15. Finally…MATT HOLLIDAY SUCKS, HE’S NOT CLUTCH AND HE NEVER WILL BE! Cardinals paid this ridiculous idiot of a player over $126 million, and got completely suckered by Scott Boras. Yeah, he hit a home run in the Wild Card game…the Wild Card game. Yet, when the chips are down, he plays just like he has played previously…horrible. Oh, everybody else played like crap from the 7th inning on in this series against the Nationals but I want to focus on the $126 million DOUCHE. For those that don’t remember, this is the same guy who couldn’t play a Game 7 in last year’s World Series, because he was “hurt.” Now for a guy that is 6’4″, 230 lbs, and has received hitting advice from (get this) Mark McGwire. He should be the best damn player on this team, he should be driving in runs like Miguel Cabrera did. He mustered 102 runs batted in this season, which is great, but you and I know he’s much better than this. So you telling me, the fans can’t get the guy who batted .340, hit 36 home runs, and drove in 137 runs back in 2007??? The fans can’t get it. Yet, some imbeciles want to say he’s clutch. You wouldn’t know that truth if it slapped you in the face. Now let’s go back to all of those fans that said, “Oh, we don’t need Albert Pujols anymore.” AND “Let him rot in Anaheim.” AND my personal favorite, “F*** Pujols.” They could sure use that in the lineup right now especially after the man who has taken his spot in the lineup is supposed to be…that guy. What a joke. Yet, I’m cheering for him. Thanks for suckering me, Matt. You are doing a tremendous job.
  16. When is hockey coming on again?

I’m done. More to come soon.

Thoughts? Concerns? Ideas are welcome. Please reply below.

Thanks.

The A-Train…aka The Mad Redbird

THE A-TRAIN RANT 4.0!

The following rant for this week is dedicated to one particular quarterback that I have lost of respect for…Robert Griffin III.

Before this incident, last year’s Heisman Trophy winner from Baylor University (first in school history) was already on the verge of becoming one of the most humble players that would have never seen the word “diva” be near him. I was wrong.

Reading from a report from ESPN saying that the Rams were unprofessional by saying, “They were doing a lot of dirty things. I still think they have an extremely good team, that doesn’t take anything away from them, but the game was unprofessional,” Griffin said. Pause. So you just cleaned it up by saying that the “game” was unprofessional. Then responded by saying, “Who am I to talk?” Exactly, WHO ARE YOU TO TALK? Right now in the NFL, you’re still a nobody. That may sound harsh but he hasn’t earned his stripes…not even close. Now, I don’t know what happened with #1 overall pick Andrew Luck or if he has any problems with how he has been treated…after just 2 games. But hell, who are you? Just because you have gotten endorsement deals and made some pretty good finances…YOU’RE STILL A CRAB IN THE LEAGUE!

He then said, “I’ve barely been a pro for very long, but from what I experienced against the Saints, compared to that game, it was definitely unprofessional and it does need to be cleaned up.”

Now, crap was being done everywhere on the field. And I know that other players around the league experienced that. But I don’t hear any complaints from them. Now while he may the 1st to speak up about this issue this season, but it just goes to show how much this league is putting up quarterbacks and wide receivers on this high pedestal and the high possibilities of them being protected by team owners and of course, Mr. Goodell. That’s why these replacement refs are horrible. But that’s the price that is paid when a union can’t get it together with the league. Just goes to show you how much the real ones are needed.

RGIII, you think that the RAMS (OF ALL TEAMS) will play dirty with you…wait until you play the 6 games within your division. Did you forget what division you are playing in? It’s totally defensive-minded and they don’t give a damn about what you think or say. Especially what YOU said about how the Rams players were saying that they were going to hit you after every play. As a matter of fact, you better licking your wounds now because these teams are making a promise to put you on your ass after every play. So see if youI’ll look forward to each division game. Looks like you need a valuable lesson on being an NFL pro. I don’t care who you are off the field. You can be a great individual but on that field, you’re nobody to me. I’m still wondering if John Madden is becoming old and senile for saying those “great” comments about you. BUT’ THAT’S WHAT THE DEFENSE IS SUPPOSED TO DO! IT’S WHY US FANS PAY THEM…AND FOR YOU! You keep asking for protection like it’s a cry for help. You sound like a punk. I’m going to talk like you did, “What do I know? Who am I?” I’m a fan. I’m a blogger. I cheered for you. You are a member of the Big 12, a conference that I despise. I can’t stand that conference. Sorry, got personal.

But this is personal, sort of. And now to finish off this rant to RGIII…I want you to remember this one thing and I’ll quote The Rock.

“BOOTS TO ASSES!” Remember that. Because that’s where YOU will be every week until YOU retire from the NFL. WELCOME TO THE NFL, ROOKIE!

COMMENTS…please place them below. Thanks.
